Faith-Filled Fargo Giving Tree 2024
In our third year, True North Church is excited for what is to come when we are intentional about what we ask and who we bring together! When we started the Faith-Filled Fargo Giving Tree in 2022, we were able to bless 122 local children who were connected to us through programs like SENDCAA Head Start, New Life Center Genesis Program, medical respite programs, and school social workers. Last year, that number grew to over 325 kids; all who were blessed with something 1.they WANTED 2.they NEEDED and 3. they could WEAR (a minimum of 3 gifts).
This year, we asked more intentional questions and want to focus on needs, specifically of our primary recipients, the 258 students of our local SENDCAA Head Start program who are living below the poverty line. The primary gaps seen by administrative staff include food insecurity and winter preparedness. Because of this, we have NEW categories for the 2024 Giving Tree:
FOOD (addressing food needs over winter break)
FROST (addressing needs for winter gear)
and FUN (help with providing a child with a special gift for the holidays).
A family can request from any and all of the categories for each of their children in the home, with no age limit. Requests are put on tags which are then adopted by generous people, purchased, and delivered the week before Christmas.
